Field Day

Many EARS members actively participate in various Emergency Communication activities which take place throughout the year.

Probably the largest being the ARRL Field day held annually on the 4th full weekend in June..


What is Field Day?

Field Day is an annual amateur radio exercise encouraging emergency communications preparedness among amateur radio operators. In the United States, it is typically the largest single emergency preparedness exercise in the country, with over 30,000 operators participating each year. Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June. EARS will be operating from Lake Dixon at 1700 North La Honda Drive Escondido, Ca 92027. Field Day is a Great social event too


DIXON LAKE Information

EARS Will have Campground sites 26, 27, 28, 29, 46 and 47(the Circle) The day-use entrance fee for Dixon Lake is $5.00 Per vehicle on the weekends and holidays, but mention that you are with EARS and they may let you in for free. Senior citizen (60+ years) vehicles are always free. There are 2 vehicles allowed per campsite (RVs and Trailers count as vehicles).

Pets are not allowed at Dixon Lake unless it’s a Service Animal


Field Day Schedule 2023


  • Friday June

    • 2PM (approx.) -- set up begins

  • Saturday June

    • 11:00 am -- Operating begins

    • 6:00 pm – Dinner (everyone is invited)

  • Sunday June

    • 11:00 am -- Field Day Operating ends and tear-down begins

    • 1pm - 2:00 pm – Tear-down complete
